Our Year 7 students recently participated in the Australian Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition (CAT), organised by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT). This prestigious competition highlights and develops students' computational skills and algorithmic thinking rather than focusing on programming expertise. Open to all students regardless of their mathematics curriculum, CAT encourages logical problem-solving and critical thinking.
Our students excelled, demonstrating impressive problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for logical reasoning. We are proud of our students' achievements and ability to tackle complex problems creatively and precisely. Congratulations to all who took part in this stimulating challenge!

Blue Tongue Touch and Pacific District Sport

6 August 2024

Blue Tongue Touch

On Friday of week three, our senior touch students competed at the Yarrabilba Blue Tongues touch day. This fantastic community event hosted by Yarrabilba State College was an excellent opportunity for our teams to test their skills before the NGCAS season starts this Friday. The boys started the day well with a good performance against St Matthews, and the girls ended the day with a 3-2 win over St Clare’s. Well done to both teams, and we will carry this momentum throughout the rest of the year.

Pacific District Sport

During week 3, King’s took a team of 22 students to the district trials held at Runaway Bay Performance Centre. For many of our students, this was their first time at the district level, and they performed well. Many students set personal bests over the two days, and it has ignited a love of athletics for many of the students. Well done to all who competed, and we are excited to see where the future takes you. Special mention to Estelle Reeves, who finished 2nd in her Discus Event.

King’s Logan Village had its first experience of competing at an eisteddfod event when we sent three of our young ensembles to compete at the Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod.
Eisteddfods are an excellent opportunity for the students to gain valuable public performance experience while participating in community events and, when time permits, watch how other groups present and perform on stage.
Performing at the Logan Entertainment Centre, the students were outstanding ambassadors for King’s and gave their best effort.

Congratulations to the students for your dedication to learning and preparation for the eisteddfod. Congratulations to the staff for your preparation of the students - Mrs Alison Terhorst (Band) and Mr Ryan Chislett (Strings).
